Use official sources for official decisions

This page is intentionally source-forward. Use it for official links first, then use the practice app for studying once you know which step applies to you.

The old Ontario College of Trades language can still appear in older discussions, but the current trade and apprenticeship authority is Skilled Trades Ontario, with apprenticeship programs also involving the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development.

How to use this hub

  • Starting out: begin with the apprenticeship and sponsor pages.
  • Already registered: use current-apprentice information, training standards, and in-school training guidance.
  • Near completion: use finish-apprenticeship and certification pages.
  • Experienced worker: use the Trade Equivalency Assessment page before assuming you need a full apprenticeship path.
